Recent Changes

Recently, Burning Dog Radio underwent a merger and name change. Street Level Radio merged with our sister station in the Philippines – and it’s been awesome. Brittany and Jael have joined the ranks and we’ve been able to meet as a whole group, have training sessions between our locations, and do remote broadcasts. Though some of these things were already happening, the goal here will be to be more of a unified front as Street Level Radio gets out there. Now Street Level Radio exists in Menomonie, River Falls, Duluth, and Cebu City! Please pray as one of our goals is to reach students and to continually point to and support Street Level Ministries.

Listener Data

An example of our listener data.

Now that we are one station and streaming online, we can get a view into who is listening. Since March, we have had listeners in the US, Philippines, Ireland, China, Russia, India, Japan, Korea, Ghana, Germany, Finland, UK, Ecuador, and Portugal. This data is available because we use a service called Radiomast that tells us based on location who and how many listeners we’ve had using the stream.

Tech-side

As you may have noticed, we have a new website. There are two players – with a Philippines-specific stream to facilitate the time difference. On the Philippines stream, you will also hear sponsor promos for each location hosting a station location, as well as some Original Philipino Music throughout the day.

Many thanks to the tech people helping out to update the technology used at all these locations. (which also includes River Falls and Duluth)

Getting Out There – and Prayer Requests

Please pray for the station at all of our locations, that we are able to successfully get out there and engage people on our campuses and cities. Along these lines, we could use prayer for our choices in merch! Thanks for all the prayer and support of the station, in general, it is greatly appreciated!

Burning Dog Radio – STREAMING ONLINE

Since Burning Dog Radio started streaming online in March 2021, the Menomonie crew is not the only radio crew anymore! Both the Duluth/Superior and the River Falls ministries are able to serve at the station since the station is worldwide! If you listen to the station regularly, that’s why you might have heard some less-familiar “radio voices!” It’s so awesome that we can all share BDR as our own station now.

We have been advertising by billboards, buses, posters, social media ads, and selling merch in the Blind Munchies Coffeehouse.

This is Church? billboard from this year – promoting Believers City Church and the station.

Pray for the new locations and their servants and the listeners in those areas – that God would use our station in their lives to bring them closer to Him.

Who is listening?

We have been tracking the listeners of our station since we started to stream, which is really encouraging. We can’t track who listens through the radio frequency, but the stream does make the station more accessible for people to listen anywhere.

Since March first, we have had….

  • 3,318 individual listeners listen for…
  • 2,102 hours.

Praise God! Please pray for all of these people. Many are not local to Menomonie, Duluth, and River Falls. Some are in other states in the USA, others are across the pond(s) in Ireland, China, Russia, Spain, Germany, and more.

Community & College Broadcasts

Over the summer, we were fortunate to broadcast at some community events!

Menomonie broadcasted the Music Over Menomin concert at the public library on July 1st when Good Morning Bedlam played. It was a great turnout and we hope to do it again next summer.

We also got to join the fun of National Night Out on August 3rd. We met a lot of people and had a great time being a part of it.

River Falls was able to broadcast live from Music in the Park at Veterans Park alongside the Blind Munchies Coffeehouse serving coffee.

The Duluth/Superior crew had their first live broadcast on Sept. 20th promoting Twin Ports Street Level Ministries on the UW-Superior college campus! They were able to meet a lot of people and did a raffle for prizes from companies around Superior.

Please pray for these in-person efforts, as the devil loves to mess with technology… Pray for us to keep Jesus central and not the technology…our station is pretty cool, but God is WAY cooler!

Believers Campus Church Broadcast

Believers Campus Church

Since the launch of the campus church plant at the Street Level House this past month, Burning Dog Radio has been broadcasting the service of Pastor Ben teaching at Believers Campus Church. This broadcast takes place on Wednesdays right after Pastor Tim’s Wednesday Rewind at Believers City Church. All the broadcasts have sounded good and we are so thankful we can do this, and fairly easily.

Prayers

Thank you for your prayers and support (sharing, merch, sharing, posters etc) with this new endeavor. Please pray for our listeners and us as we continue this year!

Online Streaming

We’re excited to announce that soon Burning Dog Radio will start streaming online! With a little help from our friends at JFBelievers in Duluth and River Falls, we are going to be able to have our programming available to people outside the reach of our radio broadcast.

We are really excited about this change, and hope that you’ll tune in – we will have a plugin/app available at burningdogradio.com. Please pray for us as we move to make programming changes accordingly. Pray that we can see the effects of this change – we want to be sure we’re using God’s money correctly.

In Menomonie, you can listen to 101.7 FM to hear more about WHEN this will start! Other announcements will be posted on our social media.

Programming Changes

There will be some changes to our programming due to the fact that we are going to be streaming. Some of those changes will include:

  • more promos for Street Level Superior and River Falls
  • promos for Believers Church in Duluth
  • teachings and teaching clips from Pastor Justin in addition to our teaching clips from Pastor Tim in Menomonie.

You will hearing more information about these locations simply due to the fact that now….the station also belongs to them. Pray especially for the reach of the gospel to go out to Superior and Duluth through the teachings, and that we can advertise them well!

We are also planning to team up with WOTS on a more regular basis – so listen in for our Word On the Street segment. This will include snippets of their articles, music, and possibly interviews with the writers.

Remember Remote Broadcasts?!

Sometimes, when you have a radio station – you’re able to do these things called “remote broadcasts”, where you go out with your gear and do a show in a different location. These are cool because you can meet people, interact, promote the station itself….you know…. fun stuff.

We have not been doing much of this through the year, but we hope to get back out there as soon as we can. Prayers for this are appreciated.

Prayers

Pray for the radio as we start streaming online:

  • that people “far and wide” would listen to Burning Dog Radio and that it would be valuable to them.
  • that we are able to advertise this change well
  • for Duluth and RF churches and Street Level as they become involved

Pray for creativity for us! We need to be creative with our time and resources – especially to reach out this year. Reaching out may be different for us as we start streaming – so pray we keep our eyes open to the changes we are supposed to make!

Welcome back, students!

This semester the Burning Dog Radio is working more than ever in the realm of “getting out there” and in advertising. We were able to purchase space on the billboard near Stout’s football stadium, we have shifted our shows to the Blind Munchies trailer, and have been able to get down to Stout with the oft-used corner counter.

We have leveled up our merch as well! We recently got some masks with our patches on them available at the coffeehouse, as well as a new batch of hats and tumblers. If you purchase the not-as-famous-as-the-butterfly-latte-yet Sweet Beats Latte you get a tumbler for 2 bucks.

It has been great to be able to get the word out there about the station and we have already gotten some interest from people about volunteering with the station. We are excited to see what God is going to do this year with us and through us. Pray that he uses us and the station to reach people for the Kingdom.

Evangelism Summit

We’ve been blessed to be able to host (shortly) an Evangelism Summit for college students – including those in Street Level Ministries. We’ll have Pastor Tim as guest speaker slash MC. We have had a lot of fun naming the event but we did finally settle on “College Evangelism Summit”.

Our Facebook image for this can be found here.

The details are still rolling out, but we can be in prayer for this event as it will focus on how we can reach our culture during this time as college students. We are really excited to be able to help facilitate this event and hope that God will use this summit as a learning and growing experience for all involved!

For additional info on any of this, you can email wrjflp@gmail.com.

Moving our Shows Outside

Now that the Munchies in Menomonie has moved outside, we have been able to utilize some of the space in the trailer for doing our radio shows.

Keep your eyes peeled for Rachel, Eric, Lucy and James as we delve back into shows this semester. It has been a great way to be able to interact with patrons of the coffeehouse as we do our sets.

Thanks to all the coffeehouse workers for putting up with us as we continue to work out the glitches!

The Radio – Out and About This Summer

This summer the Radio ministry was able to spend some time getting out into the community doing remote broadcasts – which has been both challenging – and very very fun. As we grow as servants in the church and ministry we are learning as a group how to serve in the radio better and stronger. It seems we are also growing in unity as God continues to change us as individuals. Please pray for us to be good servants – in order to serve both the church and Street Level.

Radio guys at Music over Menomin
Music over menomin - again!

Daily Devotions on the Radio

This summer (spring really) we started our Daily Devotions Project, with Pastor Tim. You can hear the devotions on our station Monday – Friday in the morning AND night. You can also subscribe to a podcast for these at this URL: jfbelievers.com/community_blogs/podcast/

These are ALSO being played in the Philippines on Street Level Radio every weekday. Pray for these that they bring fruit to the listeners, and that we are able to see that fruit!

Remote Radio Broadcasts with Street Level

Tomorrow night we are going to be doing our first remote broadcast at Stout with the Blind Munchies, WOTS, and Street Level as a way to reach out to the students. Our goal is to be a single front – representing Street Level. Pray for us that we have creative ideas as we start into this semester. As our campaign for the semester shows, we want to be able to communicate as a station that we are Christian, and that Jesus loves music. So as you pray for us, keep that in mind! We want to be able to display that God is creative and cares for excellence in art and music.

We will be doing outreaches like this through the year – so pray for us as we continue to grow in unity and reach out together to the students.

Read All About It

We have also kicked off a project that we are really excited about. Believers’ Community News. This is a Christian news broadcast that is in its beginning stages. Here’s the skinny:

We are using various sources to get a quick 3-4 article news segment – and currently Pastor Tom is compiling and recording the audio into weekly Christian news.

This is really exciting because ….as it turns out – nobody is really doing this well. So listen in daily for this news and if you have good articles, well just keep them to yourself because Tom’s pretty good at finding them! 🙂

But please PRAY for this so that we can keep doing this and do it better. It would be nice to make it into a podcast….someday! We will see!

What’s Playing Now

Just a note that if you are listening to the station and ever wonder….hey, what’s that song? You can visit our website (burningdogradio.com) and see what is playing under “Currently Playing”.

Enjoy!

Year in Review

With the new year it has been a good time to review how far we have come as a station. There is a lot that God has done for Burning Dog Radio this last year. We are extremely thankful for all of the opportunities that we get / have gotten to serve God in this unique way. Thanks to everybody that engages with the radio ministry through service, prayer and support! It will be fun to see what the Lord has planned for us in 2019.

New Year – Same Vision

As we start the new year we are starting to see (or remember) that vision is important. We will be reviewing our mission as Burning Dog Radio and adjusting our compass as needed.
One thing we know and try to keep in mind is that we are a college radio station. We are the ONLY college station in Menomonie. With that being said, we as Burning Dog Radio exist to bring people to God by showing students that you can be a Christian AND like good music.

Please pray for us as we continue in our goal of reaching out to the students in Menomonie as well as the community.

New Year – New Ideas

Just because we have the same vision that does not mean we have to use the same methods year in and year out. Burning Dog Radio will be reviewing methods for getting out into the community and advertising this year. Along with that we will be joining forces with the Blind Munchies Coffeehouse and Word on the Street in order promote the heck out of Street Level. We are excited to be more unified with these ministries as the semester kicks off.

The sounds of the station are always in review as well – so keep us in prayer as we continue to monitor and tweak how we are programming the station. We are hoping to kick off some new segments this year, and more details on that will be coming soon!
