A Winter of Mass Snow Removal

The servants in the Nehemiah Ministry have been productive this last winter. We spent much of the winter telling the snow where to go. Ahem, that is removing it from the sidewalks on what seemed like a daily basis. We also utilized an afternoon to remove the snow from the east side of the church roof. At one point we all experienced a Menomonie sized avalanche. Two very large sheets of heavy snow slid off the roof creating a temporary white out! It was really quite a sight to behold. Thankfully nobody was buried or “swept off their ladder” in the process.

Bathroom Renovation

Another large project has been to renovate the basement level bathrooms in the Street Level house. We started on the north bathroom because it was in the worst condition of the two rooms. It was gutted it out in one night. We removed the entire floor right down to the studs. The toilet, vanity, some bad drywall and the bathtub were removed as well. A new sub-floor with ceramic tiles, a walk-in shower with a tiled wall, and a new toilet and pedestal sink were installed. It has turned out very nicely and should serve the Street Level house for years to come. Check out the before and after pictures below.

Some Other Projects

Plans are in the works to replace the back steps on the north east side of the church. Over the years, the weather and salt have been causing the steps to crumble. We plan on replacing all the cement steps with treated lumber planks.

We have also been working on some new bookshelves that will be installed on the walls in the east church entryway. This will add a nice look to the church as well as expand our bookstore display too.

Some Final Notes

God is truly good. He has been so good to us in so many ways. He gives us not only the materials to improve our church, but also the desire, ability, and servants to do so. The ultimate goal is to build a church that we can all enjoy and utilize in order to serve Christ in the best way possible. The Nehemiah ministry would like to thank you for your prayers and support. Whether we are working on a project for all to see, or we are working on something that is never noticed at all, we strive to serve our Lord with the best service possible. Once again, God is good.

The All Church Workday

Nehemiah would like to thank everyone who showed up to lend a hand at the all-church workday last October. Because of your help, we were able to winterize the building as well as clean and organize many different areas of the church and Street Level house. We were also able to install more hardware to help keep the church more secure. Many of the extra items we found while organizing were donated to the future garage sale for Street Level.

River Falls Workday

In December the Nehemiah servants were given an opportunity to bless the River Falls ministry. Some of us worked on hanging speakers and shelves. Others shampooed carpet and installed a new water faucet to aid with making coffee and tea.  When the work was complete we all enjoyed some pizza together. The room is looking really nice these days and it seems to serve it’s purpose well. Thank you for giving the Nehemiah ministry the opportunity to help out in River Falls.

Future Projects

We have many projects lined up for the future. Some of them include rebuilding the back cement steps with exterior grade lumber and adding a custom built exterior coffeehouse kitchen back door. With the recent purchase of a new 40-foot extension ladder, we are now able to reach new heights of tuck pointing as well as other taller projects too.

In Closing

The Nehemiah ministry would like to thank you for allowing us to serve you as well as asking you to keep us in prayer. The enemy is always seeking to divide and conquer. Jesus wants to unite and build his church.  We desire Jesus’ plans to unite and build us up. He is good and faithful to finish what he started. Thank you for your recent prayers.

New Carpet!

Isn’t there a nice clean feeling about the smell and touch of new carpet? This past spring the Nehemiah ministry installed new carpet in the sanctuary. We had some help from the One life and Gnosko ministries in removing the old carpet. After about a week of work we had the new carpet squares all laid. This transformed the look and feel of our sanctuary many times over. Thank’s to the Creative Team addition, the shelving on the stage in the sanctuary gives the new carpet and even nicer look. One large advantage of the “glued down” carpet squares is that they stay down. No more tripping over old smelly buckled carpet. In this case there is no such thing as a “nice trip”.

Other Things

We have also been troubleshooting the roof above the radio room. All I can say for now is we believe we are making progress towards identifying the problematic leak. We have also recently installed a large A/C unit that is located up in the balcony area. You may have noticed that the sanctuary is actually cooler than years past on those hot and humid days. The extra A/C unit seems to be pulling it’s weight very well. We have also helped install new locks on the front sanctuary doors that allow for better security measures. Lately we’ve been prepping for some new signs and decor in the main hallway between the bathrooms and coffeehouse. It’s going to be very nice when completed. Kudos to the Creative Team once again for their creative eye in how it will be laid out.

We’ve always got something to do around the church when it comes to repairs and general upkeep. Thank you for your prayers and allowing us to serve you as well as our Lord. May Jesus have all the glory!

Nehemiah Ministry

April 22, 2018 Nehemiah Deacon Ministry

We have been busy here in the Nehemiah Ministry. Busy is good right? It’s good when you are busy about kingdom building and kingdom pursuits. Recently we have been doing some remodeling and updates to some of the rooms in the Street Level house. Carpet, steps, paint, and lights to name a few. As you ladies can probably tell, we’ve installed a new stall and three new toilets in the ladies bathroom. We have just finished re-surfacing that bathroom floor to match the men’s room. Also, the conference room now has a wonderful new floor too.

Many of you have commented on how nice the dungeon/boiler room looks. It’s amazing how much “stuff” we had packed down there over the years. Simply cleaning it out has done much to allow for better and more efficient working space. That room is an ongoing project that can always be improved upon. God has been good in supplying the materials and ability to do all of this. We have some exciting new projects coming up this year that include new carpet in the sanctuary, a new canopy over the front patio, and replacing the steps in the back of the church. The ladies bathroom will also see new light fixtures to match the men’s room. We have many other plans under way  for 2018 as well. We are both thankful and grateful to serve our fellowship in this ministry. Please keep the Nehemiah Ministry in your prayers.
