The Kindred Singles Ministry offers biblical fellowship (i.e., brothers and sisters) for Christian singles in our area.  We host a variety of events and outreaches throughout the year in Menomonie and the surrounding communities.  We also have regional Christian singles camping weekends and winter retreats, where we discuss biblical curricula geared toward the challenges many Christian singles face in our world today…

And we have a little bit of fun too!

Here’s a smattering of what we’ve been up to this year…

The Kindred Singles are hosting, but this is open to anyone and everyone! After that we will be hitting the streets in Eau Claire to get the word out about a Community Bible Discussion being hosted at The District. And later in December, we will give away coffee and hot chocolate at the Wolske Bay Winter Wonderland…

The Kindred Singles Fellowship exists to provide Christian fellowship for single adults.  We meet a couple of times each month to hang out, enjoy an activity, serve the community, pray for one another, and learn together.  We also host summer campouts, winter retreats, and discuss biblical curriculum geared toward the Christian single adult.

Community Outreach

The Kindred Adult Singles at Believers City Church are activated for the summer. We kicked things off with community outreach, joining with the One Life couples and Duluth, to clean up the parks and trails around Menomonie…

This year we added Believers Church vests, the Blind Munchies Coffeehouse Kiosk giving away free cold press and coffee to weary travelers, and flyers with information about Believers Church, Burning Dog Radio, and the Blind Munchies Coffeehouse…

After several hours and 45 full 50-gallon garbage bags later… we called it a day… Thanks to Duluth and the One Life couples for joining us!

Camping

The Kindred Adult Singles also went camping with our Duluthian compadres at the Believers Church Campground… We started a book on the Misconceptions of Singleness (including misconceptions about marriage). The introduction and first chapter generated plenty of intimate and honest discussion (both in large-group and in men’s and women’s groups).

We capped the camping trip off with a 2+ hour river adventure in tubes in the wind and rain… It was unforgettable. Good thing we found Noah’s Ark! Wait… is that Nate and Seth at the helm? And is Claire steering? Uh oh…

Coming Up

This summer we are staying activated… We have another community cleanup scheduled for next Saturday. Then in August, we plan to hike on the Chippewa Morain Segment of the Ice Age Trail near the New Auburn, WI… Our Duluth friends are welcome as always.

This Fall we are hoping to go camping one more time and cover a few more chapters in our book. We’d also like to sneak in one more hike on the Hemlock River Segment of the Ice Age Trail near Bruce, WI…

For community outreach, as the weather gets colder, we are thinking of promoting Friday Night Binge TV nights with “The Chosen” in the Blind Munchies and all-you-can-eat pop-corn… Is anyone interested?

More on that next time!

The Kindred Singles are brothers and sisters in the big family of Believers Church. We support, pray for, and encourage one another in walking the daily Christian life.

We also have a lot of fun together! The past few months, we hosted a movie night with the Homeschool Group, a phygital game night in the Blind Munchies Coffeehouse, and ice-skating and sledding fellowship.

Movie, Popcorn, and White Witches Brew

Kindred rang in the new year with the Homeschool Group watching “The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.” All you can eat popcorn and White Witches Brew (peppermint hot chocolate with whip) were on the menu. The Homeschool kids were each asked a movie trivia question after the big show, and scored 10/10!

That was Drawful!

In January, Ashley led Kindred in a drawful night! It’s an online game where 8 contestants compete against each other, drawing a phrase using their phone or tablet. Others decide what the phrase is on the big screen. The phrase with the most votes wins! We welcomed Matt from Duluth into our game night, took turns competing, and ate our fill of Little Caesar’s pizza pizza.

Ice Skating, Sledding, and Whuh Oh

In February, Kindred hit Menomonie’s Winter Wonderland for some ice skating, sledding, and a few mishaps! We welcomed Seth from Duluth, drank our fill of hot chocolate and coffee, and hit the slopes.

Prayer Requests

  • That we never lose the joy of fellowship, being able to step back from all we are doing, to laugh, to pray for each other, to support each other, and to sincerely enjoy each other’s company as brothers and sisters.
  • That we put on a good show for the Homeschool Group this week, showing “Prince Caspian”, serving all-you-can-eat popcorn, sodas, and caramel steamers… We are blessed to host this event!
  • That we find ways this spring to meet our neighbors, make Jesus known in our neighborhoods, and draw them into the Kingdom of God… and to church.

What a blessing to have friends in Christ to share our lives with. In the last few months, the Kindred Singles went biking on the Wildwood Trail, hosted a two-day retreat, held a Friday night fire, and witnessed some spectacular stargazing…

Hanging Out Together

Ok… so Cory’s telescope didn’t give us quite that clear of an image of Saturn and Jupiter (those came from the Hubble), but we really could see the rings of Saturn and four moons around Jupiter. It was quite spectacular!

We close each of our fellowship activities by praying for each other and reading a Psalm together (picking up where we left off last time). Just to show God’s perfect handiwork, He had us in Psalm 8 following our stargazing activity…

“When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him? Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor.”
Psalm 8:3-5 (ESV)

Simply Sharing Jesus

We also hosted a two-day retreat on Simply Sharing Jesus at the church campground. We got into some practical discussion on what sharing Jesus could look like personally in our day to day lives. We also had a little time to be silly…

Faye…
James???

Thank you to our Duluth brothers and sisters for joining us! Anytime we can get together with you, we are blessed…

Prayer Requests

  • That we might be able to continue to fellowship safely and creatively through the winter months…
  • That we can grow closer as brothers and sisters to the entire church, being an integral part of God’s great big family…
  • That we would not lose sight of our main mission, to simply share Jesus with the world around us… He certainly is worth sharing!
